The basic causes of several problems of human lives are the evil effects of the influences of the malevolent planets. By taking recourse appropriately to some remedial measures, evil effects of these plants can be neutralized.
1. After taking bath the Chosen God (Ista Devata) should be worshipped. Then by uttering in words Sarvagraha Nakshatrevya namoh obeisance should be made to the planets and stars. After that the incantation (Vija mantras) assigned for each planet should be read with the mystic syllables, as shown below.

Gem stones can be worn to overcome the evil effects of planets based according to the Dasa results of the horoscope. But even on wearing of the gem stones for the planets, the bad effects of the planets can be destroyed to a certain extent only ie only to the extent of thirty percent.
The gems should be selected on reading of the horoscope as per the need. There are prescribed rules for wearing graha ratna i.e. gem stone for planets.
Surya: Ruby
1. Ruby should be used in gold and it should be worn in ring finger on Sunday morning.
This gem represents Sun. Sun possesses certain characteristics - it symbolizes soul, father, power, leadership, high ambition and kindness. The man having benevolent effects of Sun may possess high thinking, good name and fame and earn success. A person having affected by malevolent influence of Sun may suffer from eye-disease, loss of attentiveness and various other losses. If this evil influence of Sun is combined with Saturn, Rahu or Ketu in his horoscope he faces problems of finance, problems of provision of works, deprivation of government employment and many such problems at any moment in his life. When a Ruby ring is worn, it not only enhances self-power and self-confidence it also helps in getting success in academic examinations.
Properties :
(i) Ruby cures diseases of ulcer, joint-pains of the body, elephantiasis, gout, pimple or itching sensation, sleeplessness etc.
(ii) Ruby in touch with other gems may remove heart- disease also.

Chandra (the Moon) : Pearl
2. Pearl should be worn in silver ring in the little finger on Monday morning.
Pearl is cool. It represents the Moon, our mind. Pearl, when it is worn, helps to get motherly love, tenderness, brightness in eye, stable mind, love and happiness in worldly life, urge for beauty, attraction and begetting of children. There are also evil effects of the moon - such as, pride and anxiety in mind, restlessness, mental disease, unhappiness in conjugal life, infamy, loss of memory, eye-disease, stomach disease, common cold and cough and mensuration-uterine disorders of women.
Properties :
(i) Pearl is used to remove all the bad effects of the moon.
(ii) It strengthens the mind and increases good sleep.
(iii) As a result of wearing pearl, the physical beauty of women is enhanced along with their facial brightness.
(iv) It helps to make the conjugal life of husband and wife happy by increasing mutual concord, love and faith in between them.
(v) It heightens power of memory, cures eye-disease, tuberculosis, stomach-disease and sleeplessness.
(vi) The wearing of Pearl-ring benefits those who are practising in song and dance, in business, in agriculture, in research, in cinema, in sports and in jewellery etc.
Mongal (the Mars) : Red Coral :
3. Red coral should be worn in metal silver in the ring finger on Tuesday morning.
This is normally red in colour. The planet is very warm and symbolizes courage. Those who have blessings of the planet Mars, possess much wealth and property and are open-hearted. They have much strength in the body. Those to whom Mars is inimical or unfavourable, are hot-tempered, angry, quarrelsome and engaged in bad deeds. Some houses positioned by Mars in horoscope create mangalic dosa (Mars dosa). Those who have mangalic dosa, are disturbed in their marriage-life or in conjugal life. There may also be divorce between husband and wife. Dissension is seen between father and child also.

(ii) It carries wealth and happiness from all sides.

Budh (the Mercury) : Panna (Emerald)
4. The ring of the gem Panna should be worn in the little finger in metal gold on the morning of Wednesday.
Mercury represents our communication skill and this gem signifies merit, good power of memory, proximate travel, wisdom, oration and power of self-knowledge. Those to whom Mercury is not favourable as per horoscope and those who are weak suffer from mental weakness, hindrance in conversation and are foolish.

(i) Emerald ring helps to succeed in competitive deeds, brings success to trade and commerce, helps in promotion and property.

Brihaspari (the Jupiter) : Pokhraj (Topaz)/Yellow Sapphire:
5. Topaz should be worn in the index finger (the fore-finger) in metal gold on Thursday morning.
It represents Jupiter and is used for achieving financial wealth, success, good fortune, children, paternal property, legal and business earning, good name and fame and political power. This is normally yellow in colour. Jupiter reigns over kidney, blood, liver heart, leg, right eye of the human body. It maintains balance over these parts and also simultaneously protects from jaundice, liver-disease, growth of hernia, sleeplessness, piles, asthma, elephantiasis, debility and loss of virility.
Properties :
(i) When one wears this gem he may be protected from gall-bladder stone, hernia, appendicitis, mental disease. piles and several diseases of the stomach.
(Ñ–Ñ—) Persons connected with Law, Army, Govt departments, Finance, Cosmetics, Business and writers, philosophers, managers and cowherds/milkmen earn good results on wearing this gem.
Sukra (the Venus) : Hira (Diamond)
6. It should be worn in little finger in metal silver or platinum on Friday morning.
This gem brings beauty, humility and artistic quality to a person. It also indicates attraction, cordiality, love-marriage and also good relationship with the opposite sex. It makes one involved in dance and music, acting etc. and makes him to earn a good name in society.
Properties :
(i) It enhances facial beauty, gives mental peace and increases good thoughts in mind.
(ii) It keeps him away from the diseases of diabetes and skin, and secret or veneral diseases.
(iii) It establishes a long term and permanent relationship.

Sani (the Saturn) : Neelam (Blue Sapphire)
7. Neelam should be worn in middle finger either in silver or in panch dhatu (five metals mixed) on Saturday.
On wearing of this gem the person gets relieved of the evil effects of Saturn. When Saturn is housed in a good place in horoscope, the native becomes grave and majestic, steady and responsible. If the planet is located in an inauspicious place the person becomes unfaithful, mentally diseased and he may have company of dishonest friends and lady friends.nHe may suffer from lack of happiness in married life and want of wealth; he may have ailments from the knee, legs, hair, nail, tooth and bone.

Rahu: Gomed (Gomode)
8. Gomed should be worn in silver ring in middle finger in the evening after sunset on Saturday.
Gomed represents Rahu and is normally reddish-chocolate in colour (thickly earth-colour).
If there is evil influence of Rahu, it being afflicted, one suffers till forty-two years, from want of monetary wealth and endures physical sufferings. If Rahu is placed in an auspicious position in the horoscope, it takes one to a great height. If Rahu is in evil place in the birth-chart, the person is used to harsh language, he maybe a gambler, dishonest, a thief or a dacoit, a traveller; he may be attacked by snakebite and he may possess widow-yoga. Also inauspicious Rahu may cause cholera, arthritis, physical and mental agony, suicidal tendency, disease of the stomach etc.
Properties :
(i) On wearing of this gem one can overcome all the ill effects of Rahu and Sani.
(ii) It confers wealth and brings physical and mental happiness and peace.
(iii) It cures neuro-disease, hunger or desire.
(iv) Those users of this gem, who are connected with management, business of transport, printing press, computer, industry, shops or attractive trade, engineering, astrology, dance-drama and mobile theatre etc. get success.
Ketu: Cat’s Eye
9. Cat's Eye should be worn in ring-finger in silver ring on Tuesday or Thursday after sunset.
The evil influences of Ketu are sense of fear, fire, leprosy, allergy, court-case, punishment from the Court and Government etc. Persons under the evil influence of Ketu may have the possibility of being affected by skin-disease, pimple or boil on the face, paralysis, heart-disease, possibility of getting fire, hunger, small-pox, disease of worms in the stomach etc.
The gem is normally milky in colour. This gem helps in getting success by those students who even after toiling hard very much may fail to get the results.
But this gem should not be worn or used without the suggestions of the astrologers.
Properties :
(i) It controls cancer.
(ii) It alleviates or heals paralysis, asthma, skin-disease, mental disease etc.
(iii) Those who are peaceful, are poet-litterateur, engineers, doctors, announcers and those who are concerned with law, dance and music, politics etc. earn beneficial results.
If you wear some gems, some other gems should not be worn together with them. Correct use is necessary.
In this respect some suggestions are given below in the form of rules.
(i) When Ruby is worn, gems to be avoided are - Hira (Diamond), Neelam and Gomed.
(ii) When Pearl is worn, avoidable gems are - Gomed and Catch-Eye.
(iii) When Red Coral is used, avoidable gems are - Hira, Gomed and Neelam.
(iv) When Panna is worn, avoidable gem is - Pearl.
(v) When Pokhraj is worn, gems to be avoided are - Hira and Neelam.
(vi) When Hira is worn - gems to be avoided are Ruby, Red Coral and Pokhraj.
(vii) Avoidable gems for Neelam are Ruby, Red Coral and Pokhraj.
(viii) Avoidable gems for Gomed are Ruby, Pearl and Red Coral.
(ix) Avoidable gems for Cat's Eye - is Pearl.
Gems are of two types - hot and cold. Ruby, Red Coral, Diamond and Cat's Eye are hot gems whereas Pearl, Topaz (yellow Sapphire), Blue Sapphire and Gomed are cold in nature.
The utility of use of a gem is for a certain period of time only. If you wear them for more than the prescribed years, they will not work. Here is the time :

Different planets exercise influence differently on several
directions of human lives.
(i) The Sun has effects on self-confidence and will-power;
(ii) The Moon influences our imaginative power and mental position;
(iii) The Mars symbolizes influence on courage, firmness and bliss;
(iv) The Mercury exerts influence on spiritual power, power of memory, love etc.;
(v) The Jupiter influences on religion, beauty, body, love etc.
(vi) The Venus exerts influence on brotherly love, efficiency in Work;
(vii) The Saturn has influence on the Science of Logic or Argumentation, patience, profundity, carefulness etc.;
(viii) Rahu influences on disorderliness or chaos, publicity, sports and on elder brother.
It is necessary to know as to whether the gems to be used are faulty or defective. For, the results will be reverse or the misfortunes may come if we wear the faulty gems/gems with blemish.
Manik / Ruby :
(i) If we wear the Ruby which is not shining or luminous, it will cause quarrel or separation amongst the brothers and sisters.
(ii) The Ruby which is as white as milk, when being worn the person becomes fickle or characterless.
(iii) Family quarrel begins when a Ruby having long mark in it is worn.
(iv) A Ruby with two colours, when or if worm by a person, his father yields to disease.
(v) If a person wears a ring of Ruby which is smoky or grey in colour, is infested with spirits or goblins, besides being possessed by fiends or evil spirits.
(vi) A person wearing a Ruby having spots gets wounds caused by weapons.
(vii) A dirty Ruby, when worn, may make one mad.
(vi) When one wears a Ruby while has a picture of a trident, becomes childless or loss comes to his son.
(ix) If one wears a Ruby having a hole or which is cracked becomes victim of several kinds of diseases.
If a Ruby, which may contain two blemishes together, among the blemishes or faults mentioned above, is worn by a person, then he may have an unnatural death.
Those Rubies which, when sunk in water emit ruddy hue, when kept in hand give warmth in hand and when sunk in milk, make the colour of the milk appear to be red, are said to be the best Rubies.
The Pearl :
(i) The broken Pearl is harmful and begetter of poverty.
(ii) The Pearl having lines on it brings above financial loss.
(iii) The Pearl having spherical lines on it causes heart disease.
(iv) The Pearl having stains on it is injurious to health.
(v) Pearls marked with small dots destroy strength and intelligence.
(vi) Pearls devoid of brightness make one poor.
(vii) If one wears a quadrangular Pearl, one's husband or wife may die.
(viii) A triangular Pearl makes a person devoid of virility.
(ix) A flat Pearl brings worries.
(x) A copper-coloured Pearl causes extinction of family.
(xi) A Pearl of blood-red colour makes one poor.
(xii) A Pearl marked with lines enhances distress.
The best or most superior Pearl is the Gajamukta (supposed to be found in the tusk of an elephant). When it is viewed, it brings coolness to the eye.
If a Pearl, when sunk in raw milk emanates a ray of light, or when mixed with ghee it becomes slippery, then the Pearl is a suitable or appropriate Pearl.
The Red Coral :
If the Red Coral is red or has the colour of red vermillion, if it slips from the hand when it is held by the hand, if it appears to be heavy when it is taken in hand and if the colour of milk appears to be felt as red when the Red Coral is dipped there, then such Red Coral is the best one.
Defects of the Red Coral :
(i) A cut or broken Red Coral makes one childless.
(ii) If a Red Coral having two colours in it is worn, peace and happiness is lost and peace is destroyed.
(iii) If a Red Coral having hole in it is worn by one, husband or wife is doomed to die.
(iv) A person wearing a Red Coral having white stain on it, is involved in accident.
(v) On wearing a Red Coral which has black stains on it, a person suffers from loss of money.
(vi) If the Red Coral possessed light-brown colour i.e. Muga colour, the person losses health.
Panna (The Emerald)
It increases good fortune. The best Panna possesses bright colour. When it is dipped in a glass of water, it radiates good colour.
Blemishes :
(i) If a Panna contains anything like a net on it, it enhances diseases.
(ii) A Panna which is not bright causes monetary damage.
(iii) A broken Panna causes loss of health.
(iv) A rough or harsh Panna causes loss of animals.
(v) A Panna having holes on it creates fear from weapons.
(vi) A Panna with spots on it causes loss of wife.
(vii) A Panna with lines on it ruins financial wealth.
(viii) A Panna with two colours spoils intelligence.
(ix) A Panna having white stains on it causes loss of son.
(x) A Panna with red dots on it destroys property.
(xi) A golden Panna puts one into all sorts of suffering.
Pokhraj (Topaz) :
A Pokhraj gem which, when kept covered under a piece of white cloth and then allowed to fall sunlight on it emanates yellow colour and which, when kept dipped under milk for twenty-four hours still retains its yellow colour, is the best or the most superior Pokhraj.
Blemishes :
(i) A Pokhraj devoid of brightness causes loss of health.
(ii) A Pokhraj containing long lines on it makes one separated from friends.
(iii) A Pokhraj with white spot results in making one to suffer from wounds of weapons.
(iv) A Pokhra/ blemished with signs of net on it makes one to suffer from loss of children.
(v) A dotted Pokhraj may lead to one's death.
(vi) A Pokhraj of blood-red colour destroys wealth or financial status.
(vii) A Pokhraj having holes on it makes one wealthless or poor.
Hira (Diamond) :
When a diamond gem -
(i) Slips from hand if and when held in hand.
(ii) Reflects like moonlight when kept in darkness.
(iii) Makes hot milk immediately cold when it is dipped in hot milk, and
(iv) When boiled ghee is thickened or solidified as soon as the gem is immersed in boiled ghee, then that Hira is the best one or the most superior one.
Blemishes :
(i) Red-coloured Hira destroys money and property.
(ii) Yellow-coloured Hira causes extinction of family - dynasty.
(iii) Dented Hira enhances diseases.
(iv) Hira having lines on it causes marriage-dissolution, dissension and instability.
(v) A dotted Hira leads one to death.
(vi) A Hira having cut-signs makes one thief.
(vii) A Hira having black signs makes one incur losses of all kinds.
Neelam :
The Neelam which radiates blue colour is the best one. When immersed in curd, it emanates blue colour. When you dip a Neelam in a glass full of water or milk, the colour of water or milk of that glass becomes blue.
Blemishes :
(i) When a Neelam contains a long mark, the wearer dies of wounds of weapon.
(ii) When a Neelam has a spot as white as milk, it destroys property.
(iii) When the Neelam has the sign 'cross' (+), the person becomes poor.
(iv) When the Neelam is of two colours, the person losses his wife and children.
(v) When the Neelam contains of sign of net, it enhances disease.
(vi) When the Neelam possesses holes on it, it causes fear from enemies.
Gomed :
When a Gomed brightens more if kept or placed on a piece of wood or its brightness increases, then such a Gomed is the best one.
Its blemishes :
(i) A Gomed of blood-red colour is the creator of various obstacles.
(ii) A rough Gomed is a factor for loss of children.
(iii) A Gomed marked with a zero spot causes loss of wife or husband, as the case may be.
(iv) A Gomed having two colours causes loss of money or wealth.
(v) When a Gomed is blemished with a hole on it, the goddess Lakshmi does not stay with him.
(vi) If a Gomed contains red and black spots, it creates accidents.
(vii) If it has a 'cross' sign on it, social enemies increase.
(viii) If it is marked with signs of net on it, it leads to the annihilation of happiness and peace.
Cat's Eye :
A Cat's Eye looks like a cat's eye. Though normally milky in colour, sometimes it is smoky. It becomes slippery. When it is rubbed with white cloth, the colour of the gem becomes bright and a ray of light in darkness becomes visible.
Blemishes :
(i) If the Cat's Eye is marked with a dent, it causes fear from enemy.
(ii) If it is marked with many lines, it creates eye-disease.
(iii) If it is marked with nets, it causes one's wife to die.
(iv) If a Cat's Eye contains dots of blood-red colour, it brings to one imprisonment.
(v) If it is marked with white dots, it brings life-troubles in life.

Offerings
For Surya : Superior kind of Ruby, wheat, cow and calf, a piece of red cloth, molasses, gold, copper, red lotus, cloth, eatables and ceremonial fee.
For Chandra : Rice on a utensil of bell-metal, camphor, pearl, a piece of white cloth, silver, a young bull, an water-pot full with ghee, cloth, ceremonial fee with eatables.
For Mangal : Red coral, wheat, lentil, a young bull of red colour, gold, a piece of red cloth, karavi flower (oleander), coper, cloth and eatables with ceremonial fee.
For Budh : Blue or rosy cloth, gold, bell-metal, mugkalai (a kind of pulse), ghee, white flower, khismis, ivory, cloth and eatables with ceremonial fee.
For Brihaspati : Sugar, turmeric, horse, paddy grain, a piece of yellow cloth, Pusparag mani (Pokhraj), salt, gold, cloth and eatables with ceremonial fee.
For Sukra : Cloth of variegated colour, white horse, cow, black sesamum, kulattha kalai, buffalo, iron pan, black cloth, eatables with ceremonial fee.
For Sani : Neelam, a kind of pulse earth-coloured, mustard oil, black seasmum, buffalo, iron or iron-pan, black cloth, cloth, eatables with fee.
For Rahu : Gomed, horse, a piece of blue cloth, blankets, black sesamum, iron vessel, oil of black sesamum, cloth, eatables with ceremonial fee.
For Ketu : Cat's Eye, oil of sesamum, blanket, musk, sword (or dao), weapon made of iron, cloth, eatable with ceremonial fee.
These gifts for the planets should only be given to the Graha Vipras (i.e. Astrologers by heredity). Results are not obtained if these are offered to others.
(Naivedya for Grahapuja) :
Following offerings should be made for the worship of the Grahas.
Surya : Boiled rice mixed with molasses.
Chandra : Rice boiled in milk and seasoned with sugar and ghee.
Mangal : A vegetarian meal consisting of rice and ghee and light vegetable boiled as is generally taken by one after fast i.e. havisyanna.
Budh : Rice with milk.
Brihaspati : Rice with coagulated milk.
Sukra : Rice with ghee.
Sani : Sesamum-cake [i.e. a confection of powered rice with stuffing of fried sesamum and jiggery (This is called til-pitha.)
Rahu : Raw flesh of he-goat.
Ketu : Boiled rice of variegated types, milk of she-goat and barley (a cereal), sesamum.

(v) Brihaspati : Root of Brahmasasthi.
(vi) Sukra : Root of Ramvasaka.
(vii) Sani : Root of the white Baniyal (small Bariyal).
(viii) Rahu : Root of the white sandalwood, santalum.
(ix) Ketu : Root of the plant aswagandha (Aswagandha is a medicinal creeper, it smells like a horse - withania somnifora, physalls fleuissa)
